Breast reduction surgery is a plastic surgery procedure during which excess fat and breast tissue are removed to reduce the volume of the breast.
The breasts are remodelled to create smaller breasts that are in a higher position on the chest.
Excessively large breasts cause a multitude of problems, from skin irritation in the breast crease to the difficulty of finding underwear and stylish clothes to fit properly.
Many large-breasted women avoid sport and find it hard to cope with the unwanted attention that large breasts attract.
Breast reduction surgery will immediately remove the pain caused by the weight of the breasts. Many women find it easier to lead a more healthy and active lifestyle with lighter breasts after their procedure.

Breast reduction surgery is performed under general anaesthetic and usually takes about two and a half hours.
Your plastic surgeon may use one of a number of different techniques to perform the procedure depending on the size and shape of your breasts and how much smaller you would like them to be.
The incision is often made in the crease of the breast and then in a vertical line up to the nipple. Your nipple will be moved to a complementary position on your new breasts.
When surgery is complete, the incision is closed with dissolvable stitches.
If the large size of your breasts is affecting your self-esteem and you are suffering from physical discomfort like neck pain due to the weight of your breasts, then you may be a good candidate for this cosmetic procedure.
Some of our patients are younger women who developed large breasts during puberty. Others have developed heavy pendulous breasts after menopause.
All our patients have an initial consultation with a cosmetic surgeon to discuss what can be achieved for them with breast reduction surgery and the techniques that will be used during the procedure.
Prospective patients are told of the risks and potential complications of breast reduction surgery so that they can make an informed decision before committing to the procedure.

Your breasts will be tender and swollen after surgery, but this will soon subside. After surgery, you will need to wear a supportive bra for a few weeks to support your new breasts.
You can start light exercise again a couple of weeks after surgery, but you must avoid strenuous physical activities for at least six weeks.
You will have follow-up appointments at the clinic to check on your progress.
The results of breast reduction improve gradually over time. As the tissues heal and return to normal, your breasts will become softer and feel more natural.
After a few months, you will be delighted with your smaller breasts and your new body shape.
Breast reduction surgery prices start from £7,995, but every procedure is different, and the cost of yours may vary depending on the techniques used by your cosmetic surgeon.
